Whether your child holds a single or multiple diagnosis, we all need support. We look for others who speak the same language, have the same struggles, and could help in the navigation of a life full of systems and scenarios very different than expected. There are a number of support groups and informational hubs available online, however one site that combines both is Ability Path, the Community Spotlight Resource of June.
Ability Path (www.AbilityPath.org) is a support network of parents and professionals within the special needs community. The Ability Path’s mission is
“to build a community that brings together professionals and parents of children with special needs from around the globe to learn, share and strengthen the process of supporting the ongoing healthy development of children and youth with special needs and disabilities.”
With topics available in both English and Spanish, The Ability Path features a number of articles, expert, blogs and forums. In addition, Ability Path has included informative videos on their LiveStream site from various experts within the community. If you’re looking for a new resource, would like to enhance the support you’re currently receiving or have yet to find a support “home”, give them a visit.
